Golden Crispy Potato Cakes

Here’s the recipe for Golden Crispy Potato Cakes 


  • 4 medium potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled and boiled
  • 1 small onion, finely grated (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp grated  cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or parmesan – optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil or butter for frying

  1. Prepare the Potatoes
    • Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain well and mash until smooth.
  2. Mix the Dough
    • In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, egg, flour, cheese (if using), onion,  herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Shape the Cakes
    • Scoop out portions of the mixture and shape into small patties.
  4. Cook the Potato Cakes
    • Heat oil/butter in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Fry patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy
